Has a PhD in social sciences from the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD), a Master’s degree in modern history from the University of Porto and a Bachelor’s degree (licentie) in Modern History from the University of Louvain (Universiteit Leuven). She began her university career at UTAD in 1998 and has since been linked to its course in tourism. She is a full researcher at CETRAD. Her areas of interest are sustainable/responsible tourism, health and wellness tourism, history of tourism and, e-/b-learning in tourism.

Holds a European PhD in Social Anthropology from the University of Santiago de Compostela and another PhD in Tourism from the University of La Laguna (Canarias – Spain). He is auxiliary professor with aggregation of anthropology and cultural tourism at UTAD. He conducts research about anthropology of tourism and cultural heritage in CETRAD. He has done field research in Asturias and Galicia (Spain), Portugal and Panama. He was awarded with 2007 FITUR Award for Tourism Research and 2011 Sol-Meliá – University of the Balearic Islands Award for Tourism Research.

 Carlos Fernandes Carlos Fernandes
Is Associate Professor in Tourism Studies at the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo, Portugal. He obtained his undergraduate degree at Syracuse University (USA), Master´s at Rutgers University (USA) and Ph.D. at Bournemouth University (UK). His interests include tourism as a strategy for community development, heritage, cultural and creative tourism and tourism destination management.

Has a PhD in Management from the UTAD, a Master’s degree in Marketing from the University of Minho and a Bachelor’s degree in Management of the UTAD. She is a full researcher at CETRAD. Her areas of interest are internal marketing, entrepreneurship, spirituality, sustainable tourism development.  She is involved in several studies and research projects (for example, “Incub Training Project: Entrepreneurship open learning for job creation”).
